Our recommendation, in short
The cheapest repair is the one you never make. A well-maintained phone — with a protector on the screen and the rear camera, a good case, kept away from moisture and with the battery replaced on time — rarely reaches big bills. The figures below help you know what to expect, but the real goal is not to need them too often.
Apple’s official fees (reference, US)
These are the out-of-warranty service fees Apple publishes for the US market (in dollars, VAT excluded). We use them as a reference — they are not the prices in Romania. Below we explain how they turn into the real price here.

Why the battery got more expensive
The battery replacement fee rose to $129, $10 more than on the iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro ($119). The reason: the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have larger batteries than last year, and a bigger battery means a higher service cost. It’s also an indirect signal: the battery is, statistically, the first part to wear out on any phone — so the first one worth watching.
What this means in Romania
The price here isn’t a simple conversion from dollars. On top of the part cost, in turn, you add:
➕ VAT 21%
Romania’s standard VAT rate (since August 2025) applies on top of the part and service cost.
➕ Customs / import
Parts come from outside the EU, with import duties and shipping — costs that don’t appear in the US fee.
➕ Labor
The actual work — diagnosis, disassembly, fitting with proper tools and procedures, testing. It varies with complexity.
That’s why we don’t give an off-the-cuff figure here: the correct price is set after diagnosis, depending on the model and the exact part. The good news is that an independent service can be more favorable than Apple, with the same care for parts and with a warranty.
With us, the price is final — no surprises
Apple says it „inspects the device to determine the final fee”. With us it’s the opposite: the price shown is the final price — it includes the part, labor and VAT (21%). As a real reference, here’s what repairs already cost for the iPhone 17 series:

How to keep repair costs down
Glass protector (screen + camera)
A few-euro protector absorbs scratches and many drops. The Pro models’ rear camera sticks out — a dedicated protector saves it from costly cracks.
Case with raised edges
A case that sits slightly above the screen and camera module takes the impact in a fall — exactly the most expensive areas to repair.
Genuine battery on time
When capacity drops below ~80%, replace it. A healthy battery keeps your runtime and avoids sudden shutdowns — especially after big updates.
Keep it away from moisture and thermal shock
IP68 doesn’t mean „forever”. Avoid salt water, shower steam and sudden hot–cold swings; moisture is the logic board’s enemy.
