IRP — Independent Repair Provider
What it means: Independent service with specific Apple contract. Have access to official Apple tools and training, but more limited than AASP. Program launched in 2019 globally, in Romania availability is variable.
How to recognize: Listed on official Apple site as IRP. Can use Apple Service Pack parts with official invoice, but no Apple warranty coverage on in-warranty devices.
In Romania 2026: In Romania, list of active IRPs is very limited — check directly on support.apple.com/programs/irp for updated official list.
Typical price: Comparable to AASP, but without Apple warranty coverage — recommended for out-of-warranty devices.
GPD — Genuine Parts Distributor
What it means: Program launched by Apple in May 2025 allowing any independent service to order original Apple parts for iPhone and iPad without AASP certification. Official Apple distributors in Europe: MobileSentrix EU, Mobileparts.shop.
How to recognize: GPD services can present intra-community invoices from official distributors (MobileSentrix EU or Mobileparts.shop). Parts have verifiable serial code in Apple Repair Assistant — appear as „Genuine Apple Part" in Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History.

Specialized independent Apple service
What it means: Service working exclusively (or mainly) on Apple, without direct Apple contract, but with real technical experience — microsoldering, board-level repairs, data recovery. Can use official GPD parts or OEM refurbished. Specialization > volume.
How to recognize: Active VAT-paying CUI on ANAF, Google reviews with > 3-5 years history, fixed location verifiable on Google Maps, RO e-Factura presence, documented technical articles (microsoldering, board-level), verifiable physical equipment (microscope, thermal camera, hot air station).
In Romania 2026: Radical Service (Bucharest, Sector 1, since 2014) — honest self-reference. There are other serious services you can evaluate using criteria from this article.
Typical price: Typically lower than AASP for the same labor quality. Difference comes from: smaller structure (no shop network), deep Apple specialization (lower volume, higher expertise per intervention).
Backstreet / „universal" service
What it means: Service that promises repairs for any phone type (Android, iPhone, Huawei, Xiaomi etc.) and sometimes laptops. Without real Apple specialization. High risk of wrong diagnoses and low-quality parts.
How to recognize: Not listed as VAT payer on ANAF (under threshold), recent Google reviews without old history, refuse card payment, „invoice" printed from Word without RO e-Factura series, vague equipment description, no written technical articles.

Ask for the service's CUI. Go to anaf.ro - VAT Payers Registry. Enter CUI. Check: (a) company active as VAT payer, (b) registration date (company age), (c) main activity object (CAEN code — look for 9512 „Repair of communication equipment" or 9521 „Repair of household appliances").
✓ Positive signal: Company with 5+ years history, active VAT payer, relevant CAEN code, registered office at service's physical address.
✗ Negative signal: Recent company (under 2 years) or PFA without VAT, registered office at different address than service location, CAEN code different from repairs.

Search service name on Google Maps. Check: (a) exact address from Google Business profile is on Google Maps with Street View; (b) location looks like professional service (shop window with logo, equipment visible through glass); (c) clearly displayed operating hours; (d) listed phone matches website phone.
✓ Positive signal: Fixed location, shop window with visual identity, recent Street View image (under 3 years), consistent phone + schedule.
✗ Negative signal: Address on Google Maps is private apartment or garage, old or missing Street View, contradictory phone, „undisclosed location" or „confidential appointment".

Google reviews verification with history
On service's Google Maps profile, sort reviews by „oldest". Check date of first review (= real market presence) and rating consistency over time.
✓ Positive signal: Reviews dating from 2018-2020 or older, consistent 4.5-5.0 rating, professional responses from service, detailed reviews with real names and photos.
✗ Negative signal: All reviews from last 6 months, suddenly increased rating (sign of buying fake reviews), one-line generic reviews from new accounts without other reviews.

RO e-Factura presence verification
Ask explicitly if they issue fiscal invoice reported in RO e-Factura. After receiving invoice, log into ANAF Private Virtual Space and search invoice with series and issuer CUI. Appears in your SPV if correctly reported (24-48h).
✓ Positive signal: Service confirms RO e-Factura issuance. Invoice appears in your SPV on next login after receiving.
✗ Negative signal: Refuse RO e-Factura, offer „invoice on email" in PDF without RO e-Factura series, received invoice never appears in your SPV.

Search service site for „blog" or „guides" section. Check if they have real technical articles about specific defects (PMIC, CD3215, microsoldering, T2 chip) or just generic marketing. Check Instagram/Facebook for real photos of workshop and interventions.
✓ Positive signal: Blog with technical articles written by technicians (not internet copy-paste), real microscope photos, boards in repair, SMD capacitors replaced, exact technical descriptions.
✗ Negative signal: Site with only marketing pages, generic stock photos, vague „flawless experience" descriptions, no technical articles, no active Instagram/Facebook.

Written warranty conditions verification
Before handing over device, ask for written DETAILS about warranty: exact term (months), scope (labor + part + recalibration), exclusions (drop, liquid, third-party intervention), invocation procedure. Verify if term is written on fiscal invoice.
✓ Positive signal: 12-month warranty explicitly written on fiscal invoice, clear scope, reasonable exclusions, simple procedure (return with invoice).
✗ Negative signal: Verbal warranty or „on hand receipt", variable term („between 3-6 months, depends"), vague exclusions, no written document.

Device under Apple warranty (under 1 year from purchase)
