The workshop case: before and after
The clearest way to understand what a worn battery means is to compare the two iOS „Battery Condition” screens — before and after the job.
2,390 cycles means a phone used hard for years — Apple considers a battery „consumed” after about 500 cycles, when it should still hold ~80% of capacity. At 59%, the phone lost over 40% of its runtime versus day one, shut off under load (camera, games) and already ran „throttled”, because iOS reduces performance to avoid shutdowns. Basically, a good iPhone 14 held back by a single worn part.
What we replaced, and how
We fitted a genuine Apple Service Pack battery — the same part authorized services use, with the factory capacity. We don’t fit „compatible” or aftermarket batteries in an iPhone: on a phone that checks the part’s origin, that would mean an „Unknown Part” message and losing the health display.
After fitting, we calibrated and paired the battery with the phone. That’s why, at the end, iOS shows „This is a genuine Apple part”, and Battery Condition reads 100% capacity, 0 cycles and „Normal”. The whole process — diagnosis, replacement, calibration, testing — took about 30 minutes, while the customer waited in reception.

The free charging-port cleaning he mentions is something we do by reflex when we see it clogged with lint — often „it won’t charge anymore” just means a blocked port, not a part to replace.
